The History of Fat Guys Get Naked Too
The first public appearance was an acoustic one, and consisted of John, Paul,
and a third guitarist, Russell Pittman, playing guitars and singing.  Their six
song set was the highlight of the "Acoustic Night" and became the jumping off
point for the band.
In the fall of 1997, after a summer long hiatus from school,
John again ran into Jeff, who renewed his offer to John.  By
this point John and Drew were roommates, so the two of
them made their way out to the double wide trailer and
hung out one afternoon.  Within days they had brought Paul
out with them to sing with the band.  Jeff's house was soon
given the name "The Rock and Roll Double Wide."
At the annual Washington and Lee University "Law
Revue," the full band made its first public appearance to
widespread critical acclaim.  The baccanalian nature of
Law Revue reached legendary proportions this year as
the band played to a crowd of approximately 300
drunken law students and law professors and tore the
house down.
The next school year, and sadly, the last year of law school for the members
of the band, saw the band play two full shows and two acoustic shows.  At
the first show they opened up for Garnett Arlene, a band that was touring the
region.  It is truly unfortunate that there is no surviving recording of this show
because the band completely rocked the house and basically blew the
headlining band off the stage.
The second full show was the apex of their career and the
band's swan song.  It was 1999's  version of "Law Review"
and was an absolutely electric show.  The crowd was abuzz
from the first note of the first song until the last notes had
died away of the finale.  This show ended with Paul standing
on top of a table above two law professors screaming lyrics
to the tune of Smells
Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana.  This was possibly the
transcendent moment of the band's existence.
The Various Names
The members of the band could never agree on what to name the band.  In fact, they decided to never keep a name longer than a couple of
weeks because it was so much fun making up new names.  Fat Guys Get Naked Too was the first name they used in public and, therefore, is the
name used by this site.  Some of the other names the band was known by over the years include: Tom's Convertable Bronco, Bill Sharp's
Disappointing Weekend, Night Granger, Better Than Willie, Kindspread, Fingered, and Jeannie's Big Tits.  At the first acoustic show they even
changed their names between every song.  Some of those names were: The Lung Clams, The Iron Lung Choir, Buck Satan and the 666 shooters,
Nikky Teen and the Carcinogens and The Indica Girls.
Sex Stone Music

Fat Guys Get Naked Too, or FG2N2 for short, began as a concept, an idea, a
dream really.  In the fall of 1996 at Washington and Lee University in
Lexington, Virginia four young men from different parts of the country were
beginning a journey that would take them through heartbreak, triumph,
sadness, and redemption.  The ultimate destination of this journey is yet
unknown.

It was a warm sunny day in August of 1996 and the incoming first year law
students were drinking beer from kegs at a mixer put on by the school.  The
students were all impressed that their new school provided them with free beer
- they were fairly sure that they had made the right choice of law schools.  At
some point towards the end of the afternoon John Granger was introduced to
Andrew Reichardt and Paul Amore.  Andrew and Paul had just recently met
each other, as well.  For some reason the three of them got along very well.
The conversation turned to music and it was discovered that they each played
a musical instrument: John played  guitar, Drew played  bass, and Paul played
guitar.  Paul remarked that they should start a band and call it Moot Court.
Instead, they spent much of their first year of law school drinking beer together
and occassionally strumming acoustic guitars.

One day, during the spring of 1997, John was at a laundromat when he ran into
Jeff Weaver.  They had not hung out in the same crowds during their first year
of law school (mainly because Jeff was not a smoker), but they knew of each
other.  In fact, John had heard a rumor that Jeff played the drums.  They began
to talk about music and how much fun it would be to play in a band during law
school.  Jeff mentioned that he lived in a rented double wide trailer and that he
had his drums set up in a spare room there.  He invited John to come out and
play sometime.  For some reason, John did not take him up on his offer
immediately.
