Mixed Bag

Merry Christmas and stuff.

I was watching the Charlie Brown Christmas on television last night and I wondered if the television network received protests from people that
complain about how christian-centric the program is.  The Peanuts gang (and why is it that they are called Peanuts?) are planning to do the nativity story
as their Christmas play and Linus recites from the Bible as his definition of "the true spirit of Christmas".  Frankly, the name Christmas has 'Christ' in it, so
I'm surprised that there haven't been protests over that issue.

The other thing that I found interesting is that the theme of Charlie Brown Christmas is how commercial Christmas has become.  That is interesting
because it is a complaint that is often voiced around this time of year, but the Charlie Brown Christmas first aired in 1965 (and, in a dash of irony,
contained many, many commercial breaks).  I wonder if Jesus' disciples complained about his birthday celebration getting too commercial while he was
alive (or does that sound like a crappy SNL sketch?).

Following
Metten's lead, I went on MySpace the other day and tried to look up some of my ex-girlfriends.  I couldn't find any of them.  I was getting
worried that I might have just imagined that they existed, but then I realized that I would have come up with much better looking (and nicer) girls to
imaginarily date.  So I guess I'm left to assume that they just haven't discovered that the internet exists yet.  I did find the profile of a guy with whom I
went to college (fucking grammar).  He was a douchebag then and he's an Army recruiter now.  Somehow I am unsurprised.

Ok, short and sweet.  Better to have a short update than no update at all.
